The rumours of a possible Disneyland re-opening date have proved to be just that...an unfounded rumour.
The internet was a flutter earlier this afternoon after MousePlanet reported:
Disney has scheduled a webcast presentation for invited media on Tuesday, September 22, to provide an update on parks and resort operations around the world during the pandemic. (We originally called it a press conference, but this description is more precise.) The panel includes Disney executives from both Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort, and ends with remarks from Disney Parks chairman Josh D'Amaro.
It appeared as though everything was falling into place. Surely this must mean that Disneyland was going to announce a re-opening. Doesn't it?
Well, the answer is no. Disney later confirmed in a statement that there would be no announcement of an opening date for Disneyland in tomorrow's update.
As I mentioned in the earlier blog post this morning, Disneyland will re-open when the conditions are right and there are a number of factors that will determine when that is.
