It is such a contrast to see the status of Tokyo Disneyland with the original Disneyland in Anaheim these days.
Tokyo Disneyland has now been opened for a few months and has re-started fireworks, parades, is about to launch character greetings, and there has been on a soft launch of the new Fantasyland expansion in which guests can walk through and take pictures, even ride the new Beauty and the Beast dark ride.
Disneyland, on the other hand, is still closed and there are so many of its guests chomping at the bit for any glimmer of hope that the park is about to open. In the latest rumour, the announcement is coming today.
Let's not get too excited though.
The announcement is one thing. Even if that were to happen today, there will need to be checks to ensure compliance with new rules, training for Cast Members, and a whole sequence of events launched. That assumes an announcement is coming today and there is no guarantee that will happen.
Don't get me wrong. I want to see Disneyland open in Anaheim. And that day will come in its own time. My concern is that those hoping and dreaming of passing through its gates again are too eager and are building themselves up for something that may not happen.
We all just need to keep in mind that the parks will proceed with the "phased re-opening" based on their own schedule; a schedule subject to local rules and conditions, and a whole host of factors.
A little more patience will definitely pay off. Let's just stay level-headed and hopefully pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.
